Rathfriland Rangers Reserves win Euro Electrix Gerald Kennedy Cup
Congratulations to Rathfriland Rangers Reserves on winning the Euro Electrix Gerald Kennedy Cup to secure both MUFA Jnr trophies to their possession, which includes the Mid Ulster Shield, overcoming a strong Killeavy United in the Friday night Final, 22 October 2021, at Armagh City’s Holm Park before a sizeable crowd.
An entertaining and competitive match throughout, although Rathfriland managed to go 2-0 up by the break through Adam Loughlin and Andy Stewart.
Killeavy deservedly got back into the game by scoring first in the 2nd half through Barry Magee and had plenty of time to threaten further in the half. However, late on it was Rathfriland who again scored next through Sam McAlister to secure a 3-1 win and the Cup for Rathfriland.
Despite the goals scored, and perhaps emphasising a competitive game, it was the Rathfriland centre halves who impressed most when it came to awarding a man of the match, with Adam Bronte just edging it.
